April 15 is the general earliest planting date for spring vegetables and flower plants in lower Northampton County. Tradition has shown over Myrtle Grove Greenhouses’ past 33 years that for northern Northampton County, April 24 is the safe-planting, post-freeze date. May 1 this year brings the new moon, or “growing moon” and is the perfect “safer” time to plant vegetable gardens and flowers here. Open Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Call Carla at Myrtle Grove Greenhouses at 678-7878 or stop by at 12475 Flower Court off Webb's Island Rd in Machipongo.
