The recession is hitting everyone hard and more people than ever will be looking for ways to make ends meet just as others are cutting back on their giving. Consider making a charitable donation in honor of a friend or loved one this Holiday Season instead of a gift. Or donate some non-perishable food items to the Cape Charles Food Pantry. Every Saturday (October thru Mid-March)

9 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Scheduled Tours of Fisherman Island are offered for free and introduce visitors to the unique variety of wildlife found on the Island.  As you pass through several distinct habitats you will learn about wildlife management on the refuge, explore the diversity of animals and plants and discover the rich history of Fisherman Island. The tours cover from 3 to 4 miles and the walking surface varies from soft to hard-packed sand with one short stretch of concrete roadway. There are no restrooms. Participants meet at the Visitor Center at Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuge at 8:45 a.m., and carpool to Fisherman Island. Advance registration is required. This will be a time to gather as a heart-felt community and share in the wonder of the season as we join our spirits to bring more Light to the world! Everyone is welcome!
